My approach blends traditional farriery skills with modern, scientifically proven techniques, refined through years working alongside leading vets, equine specialists, and world-class farriers.

Initial Assessment and Shoeing Plan
Before any shoes go on, every horse gets a full assessment because a shoeing plan should be built around the horse, not the other way round.
This covers:
Conformation, both static and dynamic (where applicable) - foot flight, ground contact, and breakover
Hoof capsule condition - shape, health, and quality of growth
Workload - what's being asked of the horse, and what that means for shoeing or trimming
Environment - stabling, bedding, turnout, and how these affect foot health
Day-to-day management
The plan itself - shoe type, shoeing interval, and the safety needs of horse and rider
From this, I put together an individual shoeing plan designed for long-term soundness, not just the next visit.

Before I Arrive
I will only shoe quiet horses. To give your horse the best possible care - and to keep everyone safe - I ask that the following is in place for every visit:
Your horse is confident being handled and shod, and can stand quietly for the time needed
Legs and feet are clean and dry
A dry, level, hard-standing area is available, sheltered from wind and rain
Good lighting for close, detailed work
A competent handler is present throughout
